About  us:

Oakwood is situated in the Gipton area of Leeds, and is a two form entry school with places for 420 pupils. It became a Co-operative Academy in September 2013.

Co-op Academy Oakwood is committed to promoting community cohesion within a multi-cultural and mobile community. Our curriculum and the consistent approach to behaviour and attitudes results in a positive environment; where children are welcomed whatever their background and educational history and quickly become part of the school community.  Children have a very good attitude to school and to learning resulting in high levels of attendance.

An engaging, wide ranging, relevant curriculum creates a school where children of varied backgrounds and experiences can respect each other, contribute, learn, feel valued and make progress. We provide a high quality education with a focus on essential Maths and English skills. This is embedded in a curriculum that offers opportunities for children to achieve in all subjects.  The strong ethos of the school supported by the Co-operative values of the sponsor supports a curriculum that educates explicitly about different backgrounds and cultures within a system that strongly advocates British values, resulting in a positive inclusive atmosphere where effective education takes place. 

The Academy is part of the Co-op Academies Trust, a multi-academy trust with academies in Leeds, Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent.
