Le Rondin School are looking to appoint with effect from 1st September 2019 a dynamic graduate teacher with the experience of SEN and assessments within the Early Years/Key Stage 1. They will be expected to make a full contribution to the ethos, identity and life of the school.

This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a valued team. Le Rondin is a Primary Special School for pupils aged 3-11 years who have a wide range of learning difficulties and additional special educational needs.

The School is organised in three Departments:

•Early Years & Key Stage 1 (from Nursery to Year 2)

•Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) and

•Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6)

The successful candidate will initially teach in Early Years/Key Stage 1. Areas of focus include communication, choice making and social skills, personal development (looking at behaviour and coping skills, developing tolerance, confidence, self-help and independence), movement and body awareness (including therapeutic massage and hydrotherapy) as well as numeracy, literacy and information skills. Teaching and learning approaches used may include Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), visual schedules and work systems, principles of TEACCH, objects of reference, sensory diet, Signalong and Intensive Interaction.

Le Rondin is co-located with the Forest Primary School and the two schools share some facilities. The Centre accommodates colleagues from across the services who work closely in multi-agency teams to provide the best possible support for our pupils

The Bailiwick of Guernsey is made up of four islands: Guernsey, Herm, Sark and Alderney.

Education in Guernsey comprises of 11 primary schools, four secondary schools, and three special schools which offer education to the Island’s young people who require additional support.
