Job overview

Harris Primary Academy Purley Way opened in September 2016 in high-quality temporary accommodation whilst our new build is due for completion in September 2017. As a new Academy, we will have a brand new school building and use the same approach to children's learning in the early years as our sister school, Harris Primary Academy Haling Park, working together to make both schools Outstanding. Our new building will be bright, welcoming and spacious, with everything an outstanding primary school could need.

We are looking to appoint a class-based Phase Leader for our Early Years team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make your mark in a new academy by creating an outstanding learning environment and ethos, with the potential for fast progression to Associate or Vice Principal, supported by exceptional CPD through the Harris Teaching School.

The school opened with 3 Reception classes, growing by 3 classes per year over the next 7 years. Facilities for Early Years will include a well-equipped outdoor provision, as well as large indoor classrooms in a brand new, purpose built school. We have had a successful start to the term, children are settled and families are happy members of the Academy community.

The person we are looking for will:

  • Be an effective practitioner with high expectations
  • Be committed to achieving the best outcomes for all pupils
  • Be innovative and highly motivated
  • Be committed to on-going professional development
  • Be an excellent communicator and team player
  • Ideally have RWI experience (but not essential)

Harris Primary Academy Purley Way is a new academy, which opened in September 2016 as part of the Harris Federation: a London based charity that has more than 20 years’ experience of running successful schools in London. The brand new school opened initially with Reception children and will grow each year.
