Job overview

Exam Invigilators and Reader/Scribes

Kingsbury School

Temporary, casual contract

£11.59 per hour

We are seeking individuals to assist with exam invigilation and also to support students with access arrangements which could include being a ‘reader’ and a ‘scribe’.

This will be over the course of the academic year, on a casual basis.

Duties will include:

·       preparing exam halls and rooms

·       setting out documentation

·       supervising candidates during exams

·       assisting with seating

·       ensuring school procedures are adhered to.

Invigilators, Readers and Scribes need to be reliable and punctual, empathetic towards our students, be able to follow instructions, and be able to stand/walk about for up to 3 hours. Often unexpected situations arise during exams so a flexible approach, thinking about what needs doing and being able to switch priorities, is important. A committed approach to your allocated dates is vital.

No previous experience is required; new invigilators, readers, scribes will be fully trained, mostly by shadowing experienced invigilators during our mock weeks.

The school can be flexible to offer opportunities in the mornings and or afternoons and on certain days of the week if candidates hold other jobs. Exact dates would be confirmed well in advance, with the possibility of additional sessions being offered later as unexpected situations arise. Invigilators offered later dates will of course be able to decline or accept as they wish.
