We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational early careers female teacher of Physical Education and Games to join our teaching team for September 2022. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Sport to teach and inspire girls of all abilities throughout KS1 & KS4 across a broad range of sporting activities.
An ability to coach one of the School’s major female team sports (currently hockey and netball) would be a distinct advantage. In addition, the person appointed would need to play a key part in the coaching of at least one other major sport ie hockey/netball, dance, rounders, football, cricket.
A commitment to the extra-curricular and enrichment activities is essential. The successful candidate will view the job in this way and will give their time unstintingly during term time. We would expect the candidate to be fully involved in organising fixtures and tournaments and to always see such occasions as an opportunity to positively promote Long Close. An interest in supporting outdoor learning including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award would also be a distinct advantage.
The post is highly suitable for Early Career Teachers and the School has an exceptional induction and professional development programme to support new colleagues.
For the right candidate, there is the possibility to assume overall responsibility for Girls’ PE/Games alongside the opportunity to take on additional management roles, academic or pastoral.
Long Close School is a successful and vibrant school for children between the ages of 2 and 16. This role presents the opportunity to lead on PE within a small school environment, whilst retaining the warm, family culture and community values on which the school prides itself. Due to the occupational requirement of this role this advert is only open to female teachers as we currently have no female PE teachers and require a female teacher for supervision purposes.
