Job overview
Exeter School is the leading co-educational day school in the South West, educating over 940 pupils aged 7-18. Situated on a 25-acre site near the city centre, our strong links to the local community, well-established pastoral care systems and fantastic teaching enable us to challenge, inspire and deliver the very best learning to our pupils.
We are looking to appoint a Finance Assistant to join our Accounts department as soon as possible to provide administrative support for the accounts, HR and bursary offices. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate good attention to detail, work as part of a team as well as use their own initiative. Good communication, inter-personal skills and the ability to establish good relationships are essential as are IT skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. Experience of accounting systems such as Sage Line 200 would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be provided.
Specific qualifications, experience and/or training should be made clear on your application and all will be advantageous in the application process. As important, however, is the flexibility and desire to learn new skills, undertake training and adapt to the needs of this new position. The school is willing to provide access to training courses for the successful candidate.
This permanent, full time position might suit an individual who is looking to start or further their career in an Accounts office. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm with one hour for lunch, all year.
The role will attract a salary of £21,500 p.a. Generous benefits include free school lunch during term time, free on-site parking, access to school sporting facilities, an 8% employer contribution to the school’s approved pension scheme and membership of SimplyHealth plan.
Closing date is midday on Wednesday 24th August 2022. Interviews will be held on Thursday 1st September. Early application is highly recommended as interviews may be held as suitable applications are received.
Please visit our website https://www.exeterschool.org.uk/about-exeter-school/vacancies and follow the link to TES to submit your application. Applications must include a completed Exeter School application form. For safeguarding purposes, a CV alone is not sufficient.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and responsibility. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
All staff working in the school during the school day will have some contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. In your role you are likely to be regularly working directly with, and be responsible for, children in your care.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
