About the role

Long Close School have a rare and exciting opportunity to join the school as a Teacher of Geography. This position would be suited to an Early Career Teacher with excellent support provided from our experienced team, or someone who is more experienced looking for a new and inspiring setting.

We wish to appoint an inspirational and well-qualified Teacher of Geography. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Geography at GCSE Level. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a supportive yet challenging work environment. You will be part of a dynamic and experienced team of professional staff. What you will be doing

  • Successfully teaching Geography up to GSCE
  • Enhancing student self-esteem through a supportive, encouraging, yet challenging approach to learning, employing a wide variety of teaching styles suited to the needs of individuals and small groups as well as whole classes
  • Preparing, teaching, marking work and maintaining records of attendance, progress, behaviour and achievement in accordance with agreed school policies, using the information to raise standards of learning, with target grades set and reviewed regularly with students.
  • Working collaboratively with other staff as members of teams, departments and other cross-curricular groups. Their contributions of their own particular talents and skills to such groups will aid the production of new initiatives, policies, resources, schemes of work etc.
  • Promoting and Supporting relevant extra-curricular activities within the department

Long Close School is a co-educational, independent school for children aged 2-16, situated in Slough, Berkshire.

The school was founded in 1940 and after a series of developments over the decades was bought by Cognita, the largest independent schools business in the UK, in 2004. The senior school opened in September 2006.
