Located on an attractive campus close to Huddersfield town centre, adjacent to the picturesque Greenhead Park and an easy commute from much of the North West and Yorkshire, Greenhead College has been providing the highest quality academic Sixth Form College education in the area for 40 years.


Greenhead College is an outstandingly successful Sixth Form College with 2,600 16-19 year old students following advanced level courses. The College has a long history of exceptional examination results and sits near the top of the national sixth-form college performance tables, meaning it is one of the very best in the country.


We are very proud of our students’ achievements and we have a strong ethos of ambition and aspiration which runs through all aspects of College life. The philosophy of the College is based on the understanding that each student is to be valued as an individual. The College wishes to appoint a talented Graduate Music Technician to join the Music Department. Duties include:


• Being a confident musician and performer who can read music. 

• Assisting with general music department administration as required by the Head of Music / Head of Subject including timetabling student recording sessions in the studio.

• Maintain and clean all technical equipment in the department.

• Liaising with other partners e.g. teachers / IT staff / peripatetic music teachers as required.

• Reporting all faulty equipment to the Head of Music or Head of Subject.

• Moving and setting up / dismantling sound equipment for college and department events.  

• Working alongside students when they are learning in lessons to support them in the technical aspects of their work.

• Running enrichment appropriate to the cohort as directed by the Head of Department.

• Working in the wider performing arts department as required to deliver enrichment and support exam work.

• Participating in the maintenance of satisfactory standards of health and safety and security across the music department, including PAT testing.

• Opening up the department and check all rooms for visible issues in preparation for the start of the teaching day. 

• Having oversight of students working in practice rooms and across the department during the college day and be a proactive presence across the department.

• Having oversight of peripatetic staff delivering individual lessons and rehearsals in the department and keeping an up-to-date timetable.

• Be willing to take part in first aid training to be the department first aider.

• Any other duties considered appropriate to this role.


Applications are sought from individuals educated to degree level in a relevant subject, with instrumental ability, the ability to read traditional musical notation and a willingness to perform. Applicants should also have experience in some (or all) of the following:

• Logic Pro

• Sibelius

• Managing sound in live performances

• Setting up audio equipment

• Managing a recording session

Greenhead College is located on an attractive campus close to Huddersfield town centre, adjacent to the picturesque Greenhead Park. We are a short drive from the M62 and within walking distance of the train and bus station. The College is an easy commute from much of the Northwest and Yorkshire.

The College provides outstanding education to approximately 2750 students studying predominantly A Level courses.
