Taunton School is a large, exciting and diverse school which aims to challenge, nurture and inspire young people to succeed in a global community. Our goal is to develop every student into a confident, well educated, enquiring, personable young adult who has enthusiasm for learning and for life.
We have an exciting opportunity at Taunton School International (TSI) for a new graduate, available to start from September 2020. TSI was opened in 1996 as an International Study Centre for students whose English on arrival is not at the level required to enter the mainstream of an independent school. It is now a thriving school providing an intensive academic education in a wide range of GCSE subjects and excellent pastoral care preparing students for entry into Sixth Form in UK boarding schools.
This one year residential post provides valuable support to our international boarding students, teaching staff and administration staff, as well as an exciting and ideal opportunity for a graduate considering a career in education in the UK or internationally to experience a year in the life of this energetic, forward-looking and outstanding School.
We are looking for a candidate with a specialism in either sport, music, drama or marketing for the next academic year. The role will involve pastoral support within the girls’ boarding house. The ability to establish good relationships with young people and a desire to help them achieve their potential are essential to this role.
We aim to offer our GRAs a memorable year working with lively and interesting students within a flourishing co-educational environment. The School will provide full board accommodation in an on-site boarding house during term time. You will also have access to a gym and swimming pool on site, and in this paid role you will also have opportunities for continuing professional development and training. Our GRAs are assigned a mentor for their year who will provide advice on professional development and working with students both in the classroom and the boarding house.
This experience provides a platform for various career progressions paths; many of our GRAs are accepted on Teacher Training courses and we have an excellent record in universities such as Exeter and Durham.
