Job overview

We are seeking an experienced Grounds Manager to join St Paul’s School and take responsibility for the creation and maintenance of the highest standards of playing surfaces and related sports facilities. The Grounds Manager will also ensure that the whole estate is consistently maintained to a high standard. The post-holder will be expected to combine extensive ‘hands on’ leadership of a strong and experienced team with administrative responsibilities, health and safety knowledge and grounds management technical knowledge.

The Grounds Manager will play a key role in the planning of any future grounds renovations.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7.00pm – 3:15pm. Occasional Saturday or out of hours cover will be required when allocated grounds staff are sick, on annual leave or school events require Grounds Manager presence.

St Paul’s School was founded in 1509 and currently occupies a large site in Barnes, south-west London. A selective independent school, it provides an education for boys aged 7-18 and has boarding facilities for a small number of its students.

Prospective entrants are usually expected to pass online and/or written examinations across a range of subjects, as well as undergoing an interview with a senior member of staff. In order to improve accessibility for students from poorer backgrounds, a wide range of bursaries and scholarships are available for boys who reach the required academic standard.
