The current Headmaster, Andrew Nott, is retiring on health grounds after 13 years of outstanding leadership. The school has flourished during his tenure and the Governors are looking to appoint someone of equal talent, energy and dedication, to continue this development and to ensure St Hugh’s maintains its excellent national and local reputation.
St Hugh’s is a co-educational, friendly, family-focused, country preparatory school which provides day and boarding education for 360 boys and girls from the age of 3 to 13 years old.
Applicants will need to demonstrate vision and outstanding leadership, along with strong management and communication skills and the ability to lead a dedicated staff and enthusiastic pupils, as well as managing the high expectations of parents. A strong personal commitment to education, and to maintaining the school’s inclusivity and warm family ethos, is essential.

About St Hugh's School
St Hugh’s Oxfordshire is a highly regarded co-educational, day and boarding independent preparatory school with 350 boys and girls from the ages of 3 to 13.
Founded in 1906 in Chislehurst, Kent, St Hugh’s School was named after Hugh of Avalon, Bishop of Lincoln from 1156 to 1200. In 1946, the school relocated to Carswell Manor, a Jacobean country house surrounded by 40 acres in Oxfordshire. The school became a charitable trust in 1967 and is administered by a board of governors who are also trustees.
