Head of Drama with English Teaching

Job Start: September 2018

Location: The Queen Elizabeth Academy, Atherstone

Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR 2b (£4,397)

Contract Type: Full-time

Contract Term: Permanent

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic Head of Drama to join our modern and forward thinking school. You will have a real appetite to educate the next generation, along with passion and enthusiasm for both Drama and English.  As the Head of department, you will have responsibility for student outcomes, teaching and learning, as well as supporting and developing teachers within the department. Your role will be part of our successful and experienced English and Drama faculty, so you will be working alongside a strong and passionate team.  Along with being an excellent classroom practitioner, you will be able to ignite our students’ passion for Drama, and be happy to get involved with and lead school performances throughout the year. As part of your role you will be required to teach English lessons, so experience doing this is essential.

The Queen Elizabeth Academy is an 11-16 mixed academy based in Atherstone with approximately 600 pupils on roll. Following our recent Ofsted inspection in May 2017, we were shown to be “Good with Outstanding features”, a real testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students. Our summer examination results were fantastic. Our performance was well above National Averages in key performance criteria and our Progress 8 score of +0.35 was quite stunning. In November 2016, as part of the Priority School Building Programme, we moved into brand new premises that have given us access to fantastic new facilities, including brand new staging and tiered seating, which really set us apart in the locality and support performance based activities. We are a forward thinking school, always looking for and being very open to new ideas; we feel this is the best way to ensure our consistent development and the further improvement of our student’s attainment.

What we are looking for – the “Golden Thread”

  1. An individual who is passionate about working in our school.
  2. An individual who is determined to provide the best educational experience for their students.
  3. An individual who wants to continually learn.

We are keen to welcome colleagues who share our passion for engaging students in learning and inspiring them to achieve.

  • Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of our students?
  • Do you have what it takes to work with a determined leadership team and staff, which promote excellence, and consistently challenge you to improve?

If so, then we welcome you to join our team at The Queen Elizabeth Academy.

We actively encourage visits to the school.

Please note that all applications will be considered upon receipt
