Taunton School is over 170 years old and is an Independent School for approximately 1000 boys and girls aged 0-18 years, with circa 300 boarders. We aim to challenge, inspire and nurture young people to succeed in a global community. Taunton School International (TSI) was set up by Taunton School in 1996 to provide a first step for international students wishing to complete their education in a British school.
In 2012, Taunton School International expanded its provision by opening a Middle School (TSIMS, known internally as The Grange) for up to 60 international students aged 8 to 14. TSIMS is located 3 miles off campus and is largely self-contained, although students use Taunton School facilities for some lessons and for Games and are expected to join Taunton School or Taunton School Preparatory after a maximum time of a year. TSIMS also operates an academic Junior Summer School.
The School are now seeking to appoint to the role of Head of Pastoral to oversee the pastoral welfare of international students from ages 8-14. The role will also have a teaching element on a reduced timetable and you will be expected to teach PSHEE plus one other subject (ICT, EAL, Geography or History) to small class sizes of highly motivated students.
It is essential that the successful candidate has a minimum of three years’ full time, relevant experience. Experience of working with international students and in a boarding school would be desirable.
Our School ethos is of a shared responsibility and positive contribution from all to the life and work of this busy six-day-a-week boarding and day community. This is what makes Taunton School such a thriving, energetic and well-rounded Independent School. We offer a competitive package and an outstanding educational environment in which to work.
Application details: Please complete and submit a Taunton School application form and equal opportunities monitoring form accompanied with a covering letter to firstname.lastname@example.org.
