Job overview

A fantastic opportunity has become available to lead our PE department, you will manage, develop and lead the subject to ensure the highest possible standards of academic progress for all students. Our goal is to equip students with the fundamental skills to foster a love for sport and exercise and prepare them for lifelong participation, whether it be for pleasure or employment.

We have an array of outdoor facilities available to use for lessons including a 3G astro turf pitch, tennis courts and school field. Our school has excellent indoor facilities too, including a Sports Hall, an activity studio and a dedicated classroom for those pursuing OCR Cambridge National qualifications.

We offer an impressive range of sports lessons and extracurricular, including non-traditional options that are introduced to students at KS4 often as part of an option block. We have excellent links to the local tennis, rugby, hockey, athletic and running clubs. PE is an important part of the school and is certainly a popular option for students to study at Year 10 and 11.

We pride ourselves on our successful district sports teams, traditionally doing well at Athletics and Basketball. We also enter local and national competitions such as the Essex Cup English Schools FA and the English League Cup.

Our department is made up of experienced teachers, including mentors for PGCE and ECT students from Brighton University.

The successful candidate will have a proven success of teaching PE. You will have creativity, experience, determination, organisational and team building skills to drive the continued development of this team and the future participation in physical activity for our students.
