About the Sixth Form

Newcastle Sixth Form College is the largest Sixth Form College in the region, with over 1,300 students and around 100 dedicated staff, providing a wide range of A Levels. The College opened in 2013 and offers a dedicated A-Level campus in the heart of Newcastle’s city centre.

At NSFC we are proud to state that we offer an aspirational culture and ethos for our students, with highly focused subject staff, student support services, dedicated personal development coaching and an in-house learning support team. This ensures every student has the greatest opportunity to achieve the best outcome from their A-Level journey.

Newcastle Sixth Form College is an aspirational and inclusive community dedicated to helping young people fulfil their potential. Students thrive in a culture of mutual respect, increased freedom, and high expectations. Students make good progress at NSFC and over 500 students applied to university from NSFC last year, with many of them the first members of their family to do so.

The College also has a dedicated UCAS coordinator and careers support team, to ensure that every student is given excellent information, advice and guidance to support them to move onto Higher Education, Degree Apprenticeships or employment.

We are keen to add value at every opportunity at Newcastle Sixth Form College. From our huge programme of enrichment to our wider curriculum activities including Duke of Edinburgh, we ensure that our students gain numerous opportunities not offered in other educational settings.

Every colleague at NSFC, whether teaching or supporting our students, has an important role to play in helping us to continue this success. In return, we aim to provide a rewarding and supportive environment in which we will help you to develop and reach your full potential.

NSFC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff to share this commitment.

As part of the NCG Group, NSFC offers an excellent benefits package, including generous holiday entitlement, access to the Teachers’ pension scheme (for teaching posts) or Local Government pension scheme (non-teaching posts), company sick pay, a cycle to work scheme and much more.

NCG seeks to promote and maintain an equal, diverse, inclusive and supportive environment for work and study that assists all members of our communities to reach their full potential. We are committed to achieving a truly representative workforce and therefore welcome applications from across the national and regional communities that we work with and serve.

Newcastle Sixth Form College

Established in 2013, Newcastle Sixth Form College  focuses on academic qualifications with an emphasis on providing students with the qualifications they need to progress to University.

NSFC attracts students from over 100 schools from Newcastle and across the North East to access our dedicated facilities and broad A Level offer, with 27 subjects available to study.

Our students choose NSFC for our inclusive approach. They welcome the opportunity to study subject combinations that allow them to progress, in an environment which bridges the gap between school and university. We have also developed a strong ‘respect’ ethos within the college and student feedback indicates that they feel safe and supported regardless of their background, gender or other characteristics; this is because we strongly maintain that there should be no barrier to success at NSFC.

As well as expert A Level tuition we have an enrichment offer of over 40 activities designed to socially and physically develop our students and help prepare them for their next step.

We are active members of both the Association of Colleges and the Sixth Form Colleges Association.
