Cairo English School, established in 2006, is a vibrant and dynamic school where learning and student achievement are reinforcing the school’s reputation for excellence in education in Cairo, Egypt.  At CES, 1600+ students enjoy the English National Curriculum (ENC) that includes Early Years Foundation Stage, International Primary Curriculum (IPC), IGCSE, AS, A2  and IB Diploma programmes. Cairo English School is operated by Esol Education, which operates eight schools in the Middle East, Mediterranean regions and Hong Kong.
 
The CES Primary School currently has over 800 students in Years 2-6.  This will grow to 850+ in 2017-2018. The roles and responsibilities of the Head of Primary School are complex and demanding. The roles and responsibilities include leadership, in its broadest sense, and ensuring external accreditation standards are met.  Continuing professional development opportunities must be designed and implemented to build capacity and competence within the school, ensuring teachers work in teams with a common purpose. The Head of Primary must ensure academic achievement is maintained and continuously improved. The Head of Primary must have proven experience in using data from external and internal testing and assessments to drive decisions about the curriculum, pedagogy and intervention strategies.
 
The Head of Primary School is expected to work collegially with the Headmaster, Esol Education Board members, other Heads of School, three Primary School Deputy Heads, an Assistant Deputy Head, and Year Group Leaders for Years 2 to 6 to ensure the school’s Guiding Statements and outstanding educational programmes are implemented comprehensively and creatively.  The Head of Primary School will be expected to lead by example making sure all staff are held accountable for what is expected of them.
 
Candidates with a proven record of being dynamic, thoughtful and reflective leaders will be given preference. English National Curriculum experience is essential whilst knowledge and understanding of International Primary Curriculum is desirable. Candidates should have a strong background in curriculum design, contemporary pedagogy, working with second language English learners plus literacy and numeracy development. The Head of Primary must have previous experience in large schools as the organisational and logistical complexity imposed by the size of the CES Primary School is considerable.

Curriculum:

CES teaches the National Curriculum of England and Wales, applying the same educational standards as are offered in England, with modifications attuned to our Egyptian environment. Subjects offered at CES include; English, Mathematics, Science, Art & Design, Music, Geography, History, ICT, PE, Modern Foreign Languages, Design Technology and Personal Social Health Education. English is the language of instruction at CES. Ministry of Education Arabic, Religion and Social Studies are offered from Year 1 and French from Year 3.

CES initially opened from Foundation Stage 1 to Year 9. Year 10 opened in September 2007 and the school offers IGCSE at Year 9 and 10, , A Levels and IB Diploma Programme. is offered in Years 11 and 12 in preparation for university entrance within Egypt, United Kingdom and to other countries.

The curriculum is further enriched by the addition of a Learning Support programme, English as a Second Language and a comprehensive after school extra-curricular programme and a sports teams.

Cairo English School has the physical classroom space to accommodate up to 1800 students, with the building designed to house the students on three levels – Early Years on the ground floor. Primary School on the middle floor and Secondary School on the top floor.
