CES is seeking an outstanding new Head of Secondary School. With the rapid expansion of the school together with its high academic expectations and demanding academic curriculum, this position will suit an experienced educator currently a Head of Secondary or a Deputy Head or equivalent. Working in Egypt is rewarding but demanding, and this post requires the appointee to be able to work both collaboratively and independently. A sound knowledge and experience of current educational thinking and specifically of curriculum development is preferred. The role and responsibilities will include: leadership and raising the levels of attainment and progress of students, motivating and inspiring as well as supervising a dedicated group of teachers. Also, ensuring accreditation standards are met, completing teacher and support staff appraisals in accordance with defined parameters. Professional learning opportunities are available to build capacity and competence within the school, encouraging teachers to work in teams with a common purpose, ensuring academic goals are attained, thoroughly documented and reported, and where appropriate putting intervention strategies in place to support and enrich student learning. The Head of Secondary School is expected to work collegially with the Head Teacher, Esol Education and other Heads of School and the Secondary School Deputy Head to ensure the school’s Guiding Statements and outstanding educational programmes are implemented comprehensively and creatively. The Head of Secondary School is expected to lead by example and by design, making sure all staff are held accountable for what is expected of them and that their successes are celebrated. Knowledge of the English National Curriculum and of the International Baccalaureate is essential. Timetabling experience and excellent ICT skills are necessary. BSO described the school as having ‘the capacity for future development’. 

The successful candidate will join a school that has excellent facilities, a group of dedicated teachers, happy polite and engaged students, a supportive parent body and an operational team that enables the school leaders to focus solely on educational objectives

This is a two-year contract in the first instance; it is expected that the successful candidate will develop and manage considerable growth in the Secondary School which as it is will have over 600 students by September 2019.

CES is an IB World School and is a BSO (British Schools Overseas ) inspected school. Curriculum:

CES teaches the National Curriculum of England and Wales, applying the same educational standards as are offered in England, with modifications attuned to our Egyptian environment. Subjects offered at CES include; English, Mathematics, Science, Art & Design, Music, Geography, History, ICT, PE, Modern Foreign Languages, Design Technology and Personal Social Health Education. English is the language of instruction at CES. Ministry of Education Arabic, Religion and Social Studies are offered from Year 1 and French from Year 3.

CES initially opened from Foundation Stage 1 to Year 9. Year 10 opened in September 2007 and the school offers IGCSE at Year 9 and 10, , A Levels and IB Diploma Programme. is offered in Years 11 and 12 in preparation for university entrance within Egypt, United Kingdom and to other countries.

The curriculum is further enriched by the addition of a Learning Support programme, English as a Second Language and a comprehensive after school extra-curricular programme and a sports teams.

Cairo English School has the physical classroom space to accommodate up to 1800 students, with the building designed to house the students on three levels – Early Years on the ground floor. Primary School on the middle floor and Secondary School on the top floor.
