We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Headteacher who believes that children of all backgrounds deserve the best education. As part of TKAT, Thomas Bennett Community College benefits from access to a wide range of training and development opportunities, clear career development paths and the support of a range of dedicated professional services.

About the school

Thomas Bennett Community College is a co-educational secondary academy for students aged 11-18, based in Crawley, West Sussex. Situated 30 minutes from Brighton and London, it became part of TKAT in 2012 and is integral to the family of seven TKAT academies in Crawley.

It is a welcoming school, with the highest expectations. Situated in an impressive, modern site with outstanding facilities, the school is a thriving, inclusive community where students’ progress, achievement and wellbeing are at the top of the agenda. The Academy belongs to the TKAT Central Region; one of five Regional groups in the TKAT family.

Values and vision

Thomas Bennett Community College recognises that outstanding classroom learning is vital, but alone it is not enough to have a lasting impact on the lives of students. The school believes a rich and diverse curriculum is also crucial to provide experiences that will challenge individuals, inspire ambition and develop the character needed for success.

The school’s aim is for every student to grow in confidence and resilience and aspire to achieve excellence in whatever they do. It wants every student to develop a passion for learning that will remain with them for life.

If you have the vision, energy, leadership ability and management skills to take this school forward, please view the full application pack.

If you are an experienced school leader and you are looking for an opportunity to develop yourself and help the school and its students achieve their full potential, this role would provide you with an opportunity to take that step within a supportive and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities include:

· Ensuring excellence in the learning and teaching process.

· Influencing the strategic direction and development of the School.

· Positive leadership and management of staff.

· Astute deployment of resources.

· Transparent accountability.

Why work in the TKAT Central Region?

The Central Region covers West Sussex, Surrey and Crawley. Within the region, you will have:

· The freedom to shape your school

· A support network second-to-none: We passionately believe in the power of collaborative working and actively promote school-to-school support. This includes accessing support from our strong Teaching School Alliance who offer a range of high quality professional development opportunities for staff at all levels. In this role, you’ll also have the direct support of two Regional Directors, not to mention the strength of the wider TKAT group.

· Boundless opportunities for career progression: When you deliver and achieve, you’ll be rewarded for your success – and that could be from leading multiple schools, to additional responsibilities that will impact across TKAT, through to Directorships. If you’re ambitious, we’ll help you succeed.
