Due to group expansion, Taaleem is recruiting for an accomplished HR Advisor to join Jebel Ali School - a leading British international school in Damac Hills, Dubai.  


Who are we?

Jebel Ali School  first opened its doors to Primary students in 1977 and has provided the children of Dubai with an outstanding education for over 40 years. In 2016, the school moved to a fabulous new campus in the Damac HIlls area of the city and is now open to Students from FS1 to Year 11. In September 2021 the school welcomed its first Sixth Form students.  JAS currently has 1,240 students on roll of whom approximately 46% are British/Irish with an additional 53 nationalities represented. Jebel Ali School follows the English National Curriculum to GCSE and ‘A’ Levels.

Who are we looking for?

We are currently recruiting for an HR Advisor to provide an effective, efficient, and empathetic people-related HR support function in the school, and to be the key point of contact for new, current, and exiting staff in relation to employment matters. To provide expert advice and guidance to School Leadership on managing HR issues.

The post holder will be the primary point of contact for all school staff on HR issues, including (but not limited to); contracts, employment terms, and conditions, payroll, housing, HR policies, leave, and entitlements. They will be accountable for managing the Onboarding process for all incoming staff, including pre-employment communication to ensure new starters are aware of the requirements for their role and for working and living in the UAE, liaising with IT for relevant systems/email set-up and processing staff ID cards.

It is essential that the role holder can coordinate new starter inductions in school for all new staff –teaching and non-teaching, and ensure communication takes place pre-employment. Coordinate visa, work permits, and HDA/ADE applications, renewals and cancellations, and the related processing for new staff ensuring they are aware of the requirements and avoiding fines or penalties for non-compliance. Responsible for compliance and ensuring all staff have valid contracts, passports, visas, EIDs, etc tracked through the HRMS system

Person Specification:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, recognised HR Qualification and/or professional accreditation preferred

Experience: At least 3 years experience in a supportive HR role, understanding of UAE Labour Law preferred but not essential. Knowledge of HRMS an advantage 

Competencies: 

  • Accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Competent using IT systems, including Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook, and ideally HRMS 
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills 
  • Diplomatic and empathetic; able to deal with sensitive, personal information and issues in a confidential and supportive manner 
  • Able to provide high quality and reliable support and guidance 
  • Ability to keep abreast of changes in the law or company policy

History of Taaleem

The origins of Taaleem began in 2004 when Beacon Education, a school management company was set up to develop and run high quality education projects. Beacon Education was created to meet the need for top-quality schools as the region’s population continues to grow.

Our first schools opened in September 2005 and two years later, His Excellency Nasser Hassan Al-Shaikh, Chairman of the Board of Taaleem, spearheaded a major ongoing investment in Beacon Education by National Bonds, a Dubai-based private joint stock company with around 50% ownership by the Government of Dubai.
