About Nord Anglia Education
Nord Anglia Education (NAE) is the world’s leading premium schools organisation, with campuses located across dozens of countries in the Americas, Europe, China, Southeast Asia, India and the Middle East. Together, our schools educate tens of thousands of students from kindergarten through to the end of secondary school. We are driven by one unifying philosophy: we are ambitious for our schools, students, teachers, staff and communities, and we inspire every child who attends an NAE school to achieve more than they ever imagined possible.
Founded in 1972 in the United Kingdom, the name Nord Anglia reflects the company’s beginnings in the north of England. NAE initially offered learning services such as English-as-a-foreign-language classes and grew during the 1980s by opening full-scale nurseries and kindergartens. In July 2019, the company relocated its headquarters from Hong Kong to London, enabling even stronger growth in the future.
About Nord Anglia International School Al Khor
Nord Anglia International School Al Khor (NAISAK) is a 3-18 through school with 1000 pupils currently on roll. Primary is 4-form entry with approximately 700 students aged 3-11. Our school resides in the town of Al Khor, 35 minutes north of Doha (the capital of Qatar). We educate both local and expat students through a bespoke Primary curriculum which draws on the English National Curriculum, The Qatar Ministry of Education Curriculum and the IPC. Currently, the school is working to develop particular strengths in the areas of English language, EYFS and STEAM. We also have strong through-school links. The Primary school buildings have recently undergone extensive refurbishment following the opening of our brand-new Secondary building in August. Our students also now benefit from a new 25m pool.
About the role
We’ll look to you to promote high expectations for our students, designing learning activities that are aligned to our school’s Primary curriculum, which is based on the English National curriculum and the IPC as well as meeting the curricular requirements of Qatar’s Ministry of Education. We want you to create a learning culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved. You will foster an environment of respect within the classroom, facilitating learning through questioning and discussion.
Able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you will bring a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification and considerable teaching experience to the table. Committed and creative, you will be reflective on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise the school’s level of achievement.
Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will also be able to meet visa and teacher licensing related restrictions for Qatar. In order to satisfy the Ministry of Education regulations, as a Primary class teacher, your first degree must be from a ‘face-to-face’ establishment (not online) and your age must be below 50 on entry to the country.
