We are looking for a qualified, experienced and excellent teacher to join Conisborough College as Lead Practitioner of English.

The Lead Practitioner role will allow you to have significant impact of Conisborough College and support you develop in your career.

 

We are looking to appoint a Lead Practitioner of English to join our growing leadership team. We are looking for an exceptional classroom teacher with a proven record of achieving excellent outcomes for young people. We are looking for someone who has the highest standards of themselves and of others and is an inspirational leader of other people. 

The core purpose of all members of staff at Conisborough is to be a strong role model to staff, as well as to improve achievement and attainment for all groups of students.

 

You will be responsible for leading on aspects of improvement within the English department. Although outstanding leaders have transferable skills, as you start your journey with us, we will give you a specific area of responsibility that plays to your strengths and interests. 

 As one of the key leaders in the school you will need to be able to build respect and trust so that you are able to develop strong relationships with pupils, parents and staff. As a strong leader, you will be able to think hard before contributing ideas to support continuous improvement and then be able to implement that improvement in the department(s) that you support. You will be able to strike the right balance between offering effective support to those you lead as well as rigorous challenge and accountability. 

 

Areas of Responsibility

 You will play a leading and highly visible role in the improvement of teaching and learning and academic success of all students in English. You will help ensure the highest standards of teaching, learning and achievement in the department. You will be involved in monitoring, evaluation and review of standards and provision in the English department.

 The main responsibilities of this role are:

 

·       To work closely with the Quality of Education Team and the Head of English to achieve excellence and high standards for all students.

·       To account for students’ performance in line with Academy procedures.

·       To work closely with the United Learning Subject Advisors.

·       To contribute actively towards the implementation of all Academy policies and procedures, ensuring their consistent implementation.

·       To ensure high quality teaching and learning in English and across the Academy.

·       To participate in duties at lunch, break, before, during and after school in the Academy day.

·       To ensure that the subject knowledge of staff in the English department is exemplary.

·       To ensure that behaviour in the English Department is exemplary.

·       To ensure that Schemes of Learning are of a high quality.

·       To ensure student work is of a high quality.

·       To motivate students to want to be successful in English.
