The Boswells School is looking to appoint a talented, forward thinking and innovative Lead Practitioner in Mathematics. 

This exciting role involves leading successful teaching and learning strategies in the Mathematics Faculty as well as supporting improvement in numeracy at whole school level. For the successful candidate, there will be an opportunity to teach at all levels including at A-level. You will be joining a school with enthusiastic and dedicated leaders at all levels and a real commitment to the professional development of staff. 

This is a new role that has been created within the Faculty, so there will be an opportunity to align responsibilities with the strengths and interests of the successful candidate. 

The Boswells School is an 11-18, very successful, popular and oversubscribed school of 1500 students in the Springfield area of Chelmsford, Essex. The school has a long standing reputation for achieving high levels of academic excellence. Our results at GCSE and A Level make us one of the highest performing non-selective secondary schools in Essex. Indeed, at A Level, 68% of all grades last year were A* - B and 93% A* - C, putting us in the top 10% of schools nationally. We offer Further Mathematics at GCSE and A-level. 

The school was judged to be ‘Good’ in all areas by OFSTED in February 2017 and this role is crucial to the continued progress of the school towards outstanding.

Academic Achievement

We are extremely proud of the achievements of our students. 2019 was another superb year for The Boswells School with our GCSE and A Level results making us one of the highest performing non-selective secondary schools in Essex. In 2019, 55% of our A Level students achieved A* to B grades, 88% of our A Level students achieved A* to C grades, 83% of our GCSE students achieved a Good pass (Grade 4+) in Eniglish and 71% of our GCSE students achieved a Good pass (Grade 4+) in Maths.

The percentage of students who achieved the expected levels of progress in English and Mathematics was significantly above the national average as was the percentage of students who achieved more than expected progress in these areas.
