About the role

The post holder will provide invaluable support to students in Key Stages 3 and 4 as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA). Their core responsibility is to offer vital educational assistance to students with a wide range of learning needs.

Collaborating closely with classroom teachers and other LSAs ensures that all students, including those with disabilities, special educational needs, or learning challenges, receive tailored and inclusive education. This includes offering one-on-one or small-group support, aiding with classroom tasks, and adapting teaching materials.

Ultimately, the LSA's role is pivotal in cultivating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

 

What you will be doing

  • Implementing agreed work programmes with individuals and/ or small groups, in or out of the classroom using existing skills/training/experience to support these pupils’ needs. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist interventions.
  • Liaising with the head of learning support/head of senior school to assist with the development, implementation and reviewing of provision plans.
  • Working with teachers to establish an appropriate learning environment
  • Implementing agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities accordingly to pupil responses/needs
  • Communicating and consulting effectively with the parents of all pupils

  • Strong interpersonal skills & Excellent communication skills
  • Well organised, creative and innovative
  • High expectations of self and others
  • GCSE's including English & Maths (minimum Grade 4)
  • Level 3 LSA Qualification (desirable)
  • Experience of supporting in schools (desirable)

Long Close School is a co-educational, independent school for children aged 2-16, situated in Slough, Berkshire.

The school was founded in 1940 and after a series of developments over the decades was bought by Cognita, the largest independent schools business in the UK, in 2004. The senior school opened in September 2006.
