We are seeking a high performing Specialist Inclusion Teacher (non class-based role) for a post commencing in January 2022 (or August 2022 for the right candidate). Successful applicants are offered two year renewable contracts with highly competitive terms of employment and outstanding working conditions. We welcome applications from the UK state and independent sector as well as from those working internationally. Opportunities to work with our boarders may be available.

This person will lead and develop targeted teaching and learning interventions ensuring equal access and necessary support for all groups of students such as those with SEN, social, medical needs or disabilities. They will have the ability and necessary qualifications to diagnose and propose specific interventions for common learning difficulties in a Lower School setting. To lead the allocation of provision through utilising a team of Lead TAs and TAs to deliver individual and small group interventions and supporting teachers to develop quality first teaching practices.

Responsibilities

1. Be an outstanding practitioner/role model who knows and understands how students learn

2. Set high expectations that are suitable for identified students

3. Formally and informally assess the student learning to create comprehensive individual learning programmes and closely monitor progress

4. Develop IEPs for students

5. Ensure appropriate accommodations to the curriculum, lessons and learning environment

6. Provide support to staff in designing engaging classroom activities and differentiated lessons so that all students may access the curriculum and benefit from the educational experience

7. Provide indirect support to students by working alongside teachers, TAs and Lead TAs to plan for, deliver and assess targeted interventions

8. Instruction may be provided within the regular classroom setting, resource setting, and/or small classroom setting

9. Facilitate the improvement of teacher practice through responding to advice & feedback from colleagues and taking part (including leading) in-school professional development

10. Build a partnership with families, encouraging their active participation in students’ learning. 


Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Personal Qualities

• Qualified Teacher Status/good honours degree

• A passion for inclusion

• Ability to diagnose and plan targeted interventions for common learning difficulties for Lower School students (when applying, please identify assessments you are qualified to carry out)

• NASENCO/Educational Psychologist or relevant qualification is preferable

• Excellent knowledge of SEN and EAL issues and strong knowledge of the EY and Primary curriculum

• Research-based knowledge and understanding of a range of effective intervention strategies

• Excellent interpersonal skills 

• Successful experience leading a team with proven impact

• Ability to lead staff training

• Evidence of continued relevant professional development 

• Excellent ability in written and spoken English

• An outstanding role model in the classroom with experience in more than one phase

• Well-organised and proactive with excellent ICT and data skills

• The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment

• Acceptable police checks (or equivalent) from the country of origin and from all other countries in which the applicant has worked and no question regarding suitability to work with children
