Crompton House is a highly successful, over-subscribed 11-18 Comprehensive Church of England school situated on the edge of the Pennines.

  • This role is restricted to male applicants only as it involves working on a one-to-one basis with a male student and assisting with personal care.

We are seeking to appoint a motivated and experienced individual to join a large team of friendly Teaching Assistants within a busy department. If you are passionate about securing the best outcomes for pupils and enjoy being part of a strong support team then this role is for you! You will be working with teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils whilst also promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion. You will give assistance to pupils so that they can access the curriculum, participate in learning and experience a sense of achievement.

Duties will include supporting students in mainstream lessons, small groups or 1 to 1 sessions in order to facilitate pupil learning, engagement, inclusion and development of the whole child.

Working at Crompton House School is stimulating, challenging and fun. Life here is always varied, never dull and infinitely interesting because our pupils are highly independent learners and very enthusiastic and willing participants in learning activities.

This helps the staff to be passionate about everything they do and there is a great sense of community. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in school life beyond the curriculum and within the wider community.

Crompton House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff, volunteers and governors to share this commitment. In this respect, all potential applicants are advised that any offer of appointment will be subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance as well as other relevant recruitment checks.

Application forms should be posted to: Ms J Slater at the above address or emailed to j.slater@cromptonhouse.org.

Ofsted report

The behaviour of students is outstanding. Students’ conduct is excellent, including during break time, at lunch time, during assemblies and tutorial sessions, as well as in lessons and between lessons. As a result, students are always punctual for lessons and no learning time is wasted because of lateness. Students’ attitudes to learning are excellent in nearly all areas of the curriculum.”
