Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and passionate leader to join our enthusiastic team

Here is a unique opportunity to join our “wonderful school” (Ofsted 2018).

HTPD is a school with a strong ethos where our vision is to “learn to live.” Applicants must love children, be committed to delivering the best possible education, be excited about working in a creative, Christian school and be willing to work across the whole primary age range.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated After Schools Manager to lead and develop our thriving extended school provision which currently runs Monday to Thursday between 3.00 and 6.00 pm across both our sites. Responsibilities include liaising with parents/carers, logging attendance, supervising playworkers and preparing a healthy tea. Certain working hours are flexible, but ideally you will be on-site for core hours between 13h00 until 18h00. You will report to the School Business Manager / Headteacher. Pay is remunerated on the Surrey Payscale SP7 which currently ranges between £31’262 and £33’321 (the part time equivalent ranges from £14’940 and £15’924). (Please note that SCC is in consultation with the relevant unions and salaries are expected to increase retrospectively to 1st April 2024).

The ideal candidate may be a teacher looking for a change or new challenge for an experienced Playworker (Level 3 qualified with at least a year’s experience) who is able to plan interesting activities, provide a range of activities daily including outdoor play and opportunities to relax or do homework.

The successful candidate will demonstrate

·        Enthusiasm for the role

·        Good communication skills

·        A consistent and fair approach

·        Ability to form positive relationships with children, staff and parents/carers

·        A desire to make a positive contribution to our school

We are a happy school that prides itself on creating a friendly atmosphere and positive working relationships with a focus on working together as a team. We are committed to staff well-being and offer a local government pension scheme and employee assistance programme. The working environment is pleasant and located near an area of outstanding natural beauty with hot lunches and free parking available on-site.

We would be pleased to welcome you to the school for a visit and suggest that you look at our website, www.htpd.surrey.sch.uk, to see if your personal values match ours.

Please email application forms to recruiting@htpd.surrey.sch.uk Applications will close on 20th May at 09h30 and interviews will take place soon after.

HTPD is committed to the safeguarding of all pupils in its care and promoting their welfare and expects staff and volunteers to share this commitment. These posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on successful candidates. Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service and references. About Holy Trinity Pewley Down School

Holy Trinity Pewley Down School (HTPD) is a hard federation of two Voluntary Aided CofE schools Holy Trinity Junior (Ofsted Good 2018 with 384 on roll) and Pewley Down Infants (Ofsted Outstanding 2012 with 180 on roll). The two schools  are fully integrated educationally and organisationally. Located on the edge of stunning Surrey countryside, but only minutes from the facilities and history of Guildford town centre, the two school sites are set less than half a mile apart.

HTPD has a distinctive child-centred focus with an emphasis on a love of learning, underpinned by a well-developed Christian ethos and values that welcomes and seeks the best for everyone in the school community, irrespective of faith, learning needs, ethnicity or (dis)advantage (over 30% of the children speak English as an additional language). HTPD is a joyful, open school where no one gets left behind. Educational outcomes for all children in all age groups are good and children achieve well above national averages

The school’s vision is ‘Learn to Live’, rooted in John 10:10, ‘I have come that they may have life and have it to the full’ and is lived out in five school values:

• Zest for learning and a love of life

• Embracing the future with hope and confidence

• Seeing heaven in the moment

• Imagining the journey in another’s footsteps; nurturing understanding, respecting all

• Everyone knowing that they are treasured and loved as a unique child of God

These values are integral to relationships, curriculum and extra curricular provision, assemblies and thoughtful times, strategy and planning, processes and procedures. The school’s culture is welcoming, joyful, collaborative, inclusive, relaxed and creative. It represents a model of Christian community where all are welcome, regardless of their faith background.

There is a heritage of a broad, creative and cross-curricular approach to learning, as well as a striving for children to reach their personal best. Children make wide use of the local environment – the Downs, the Wild Place and the town – in their learning. There is extensive extra curricular provision including a huge range of sports, clubs, and activity days.
