CLIP – The Oporto International School, accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), was established in 1990 and has approximately 1200 students, aged 3 to 18, from 50+ different countries. All students have an education that upholds the highest academic standards within a globally-minded learning culture. CLIP fosters an innovative, challenging and nurturing environment for learning, where each child is encouraged to develop their unique talents. CLIP follows the EYFS, an adapted National Curriculum for England, the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum and Cambridge AS and A2 studies.

 

For the academic year 2024-2025, we are recruiting Middle School Science and IGCSE Biology Teacher.

 

Requirements

 

  • Applicants should hold a degree in a Relevant subject and have QTS / PGCE or equivalent.
  • Applicants must possess a valid EU passport or working permit allowing them to work in Portugal.
  • Fluent speakers of English.
  • Possess qualities such as innovation, creativity, collaboration, and flexibility.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

·      Developing and delivering curriculum: Designing lesson plans and teaching materials aligned with curriculum standards, ensuring that the content is age-appropriate and engaging for middle school students.

·      Classroom instruction: Conducting lessons, demonstrations, experiments, and other learning activities to facilitate student understanding of scientific concepts and principles.

·      Assessment and grading: Evaluating student performance through a range of assessment methods, providing feedback to students and parents on progress and areas for improvement.

·      Differentiated instruction: Adapting teaching methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs of students, including those with special educational needs or English as a second language (EAL).

·      Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to coordinate curriculum, integrate cross-disciplinary concepts, and support student learning and development.

·      Professional development: Engaging in ongoing professional development activities to stay current with best practices in science education, curriculum developments, and teaching methodologies.

·      Parent communication: Communicating regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress, academic concerns, and opportunities for involvement in their child's education.

The vast majority of students from CLIP successfully enter universities in Portugal and the UK. The school also offers a wide variety of after school activities and holiday programmes through the CLIPClubs that are run at the school.
