Office Manager at a brand new school - career opportunity for a developing role and increasing responsibility

A unique opening exists for a highly organised, efficient administrator, who can show initiative and is happy to jump in at the deep end! Coombe Wood School opens this September with 180 Y7 students following keen interest and significant over-subscription.  The new Head and staff team have been appointed, many of the latter taking up their roles in September, and all will work in the new temporary buildings near Lloyd Park in South Croydon. 

Contract details: Term Time, Part Time opportunity from June (25 hours pw).

From September 2019 (anticipated requirement 36 hours pw)

The leadership team now require office support as systems and procedures are established, to handle parental and student enquiries, data admin, uniform sales, etc. and assistance with some practical arrangements for student induction and temporary accommodation. Before the school officially opens this role is part time, it will have a wide-ranging brief, settling into a more traditional school office role in September, with some Headteacher PA duties developing in due course. As the school grows, you would be involved in recruiting more office staff and allocating responsibilities according to skills and experience.

Educated to at least A level standard or equivalent, applicants who can demonstrate flexibility, be resilient, thrive on variety, have the ability to turn their hand to a multitude of tasks - and remain cheerful under pressure - will be welcomed at Coombe Wood School! Our Office Manager will need to communicate well at many different levels and through different media, demonstrate competent IT skills and be familiar with Excel. Location

This is a new secondary fully-inclusive co-educational school, serving the communities of South and Central Croydon, established to meet an urgent rising local demand. Initially housed in temporary accommodation, the proposed site for the ‘new build’ school is opposite Lloyd Park in South Croydon, with an excellent Tramlink service to and from East Croydon station (just 5 minutes journey-time away) and a short walk from several bus routes. Over £35 million is to be invested in building a state-of-the-art school which will include enhanced sports facilities, comprising a competition-sized sports hall, a full-size 3G artificial floodlit surface and aspirations to include a closed circuit cycle track (CRC) and 8-lane floodlit athletics track. 

Through June and July this post will be based at Park Hill Junior School. Preferably this role will require some work in August during the immediate pre-opening phase, for which overtime would be paid.

The Sixth Form will open in September 2020 by which time it is intended the permanent building will be fully operational. The school will grow into an 8-form entry school (NOR 1680) including 480 in the Sixth Form; an increasing number of pastoral and curriculum responsibilities will be on offer.

This fully inclusive secondary co-educational school was established in 2018 to meet an urgent rising local demand.
