Weekdays - 8am until 4pm

We require a part-time experienced painter/handyman to work at our schools, Oliver House and Progress, as well the surrounding children’s homes.

The successful candidate will work across the cluster completing all aspects of painting/decorating and general handyman experience would be desirable.  Working across the 8 sites within the Chorley, Leyland and Preston area, you will be responsible for maintaining the appearance and decoration of the young people’s homes and learning sites. Owning your own vehicle is essential and you will ideally have a clean driving licence. Any mileage incurred can be claimed back as part of expenses. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check which will be paid for by the Priory Group.

The successful individual will have a flexible approach and be able to respond quickly to requests for assistance from the surrounding homes and learning sites. You will have a good knowledge of health and safety legislation applicable to your role and will ensure it is adhered to.

We are looking for someone with empathy for daily challenges faced by our students as you will often be working around the young people and staff during your daily duties. The successful candidate will have a can-do attitude, be able to manage their time effectively and understanding of the college ethos that the young people’s needs come first.

Oliver House School is a specialist day and residential school for boys and girls aged 6 to 19 who have mild, moderate and severe autistic spectrum conditions and associated learning difficulties. Children may also have challenging behaviour as a result of their difficulties and their lack of social understanding.

Oliver House School delivers the highest level of education and care according to individual need in a safe, positive and structured environment in which every pupil is encouraged to achieve the best possible academic, social and vocational outcomes.

Many of the pupils at Oliver House School may have been out of education for considerable periods of time which is why we make it our aim to encourage our pupils to be happy to attend school on a daily basis, with the help and support of our dedicated team of staff.

Placements can either be on a day, residential or respite basis for up to 52 weeks of the year depending on individual need. All of the young people referred to the school will have a Statement of Special Educational Need. Oliver House School can provide places for up to 40 pupils.
