Exeter School is the leading co-educational day school in the Southwest, educating over 930 pupils aged 7-18. We are looking to appoint an experienced Physics Technician to start as soon as possible.

Reporting to the Head of Physics and the Science Technician Coordinator, the post-holder will ensure a safe, effective and efficient laboratory technical service for pupils and teaching staff. Working knowledge of a laboratory setting is essential as is Physics experience and the ability to become an integral member of a friendly and successful Science team.

The post-holder will be responsible for maintaining equipment in working order, storage and setting up demonstrations of physics equipment ready for teachers to use; needs to be well organised and able to work under pressure to short deadlines; deal with regular interruptions; work with minimal supervision; act on own initiative; demonstrate attention to detail; and, assist across the science department at busy times.

Specific qualifications, experience and/or training should be made clear on your application, and all will be advantageous in the application process.  Good IT skills including Microsoft Office programs are essential.

This is a permanent, term-time position working 37.5 hrs/week (8.00am to 4.00pm with a 30-minute lunch break, five days per week).  Some earlier mornings or evening work, for which time off in lieu will be given, may occasionally be required.

The role will attract an hourly rate of £14.89 (incl. holiday pay) (Salary £20,101) as well as generous benefits including a free school lunch during term time, free on-site parking (if space available) and an 8% employer contribution to the school’s approved pension scheme.
