We are an ambitious academy and value enthusiastic and hardworking staff. It is a very exciting time to join us. We are currently seeking a motivated Premises Assistant to join our team as soon as possible. This is a part-time role of 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Reporting to the Premises Manager, the Premises Assistant will provide efficient and effective support to the academy. You will ensure that the security and general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas are maintained in accordance with the required standards.

About the role

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

Facilities Maintenance
  • Taking pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented academy environment
  • Carrying out general maintenance tasks, including repairs, painting, plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry, ensuring that the premises are in excellent condition at all times

Health and Safety
  • Playing a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors
  • Conducting regular inspections, identifying potential hazards, and promptly addressing any safety concerns
  • Maintaining accurate records related to health and safety, including risk assessments and maintenance logs

Security and Access Control
  • Implementing and monitoring security procedures to safeguard the academy’s premises
  • Locking and unlocking buildings as required, ensuring that access is granted only to authorised individuals
  • Responding to security alarms and acting swiftly in emergency situations

Equipment and Supplies
  • Managing the inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies required for day-to-day operations
  • Coordinating orders and deliveries, ensuring that stock levels are maintained appropriately
  • Carrying out regular checks to ensure equipment is in good working order

Event Support
  • Providing support during academy events, such as parents’ evenings, open days, and performances
  • Setting up and dismantling equipment, arranging furniture, and assisting with any other logistical requirements to ensure the smooth running of events

Grounds Maintenance
  • Maintaining the outdoor areas of the academy, including gardens, playgrounds, and sports facilities
  • Carrying out gardening tasks, such as mowing lawns, pruning, and maintaining flower beds, to create an attractive and welcoming environment

Collaboration
  • Working closely with other members of the academy staff, including administrators, teachers, and support staff
  • Collaborating effectively to address maintenance issues, responding to requests, and supporting the overall functioning of the academy

Qualifications and experience

To be successful, you will have:

  • Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry
  • Strong practical skills and the ability to use hand and power tools effectively
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to apply them in a practical setting
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, students, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
  • Previous experience in a similar Premises Assistant or facilities maintenance role is desirable.
