We seek a primary class teacher to start in January 2017 (preferably) or from the next academic year in August 2017 (applications accepted).

Teachers with a minimum of two years full-time teaching experience after gaining a teaching qualification is PREFERRED but strong candidates (including NQTs) with less experience are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to apply. Al Basma British School has BSO (British Schools Overseas) accreditation so NQTs can pass as qualified teachers during the period of their two-year contract.

ABOUT US

Al Basma British School has been established within the city of Abu Dhabi for more than 15 years with a loyal student and parent community. Since September 2014 the school has been operating from a new location in a brand-new building (previously as Giggles English School). It is a thriving international school delivering the English National Curriculum to around 1400 students. Currently, there are classes from FS2 to Year 10 however this will eventually expand to Year 13. FS2 classes are taught in a separate modern building providing well-resourced in and outdoor learning areas.

We believe that education should be exciting and fun, based on inquiry, investigation and problem solving activities that prepare students for life in this complex and changing world. The school aspires to create a global community of thinkers, creators, innovators and leaders who will have a positive impact on the world of tomorrow.

Our well-behaved students and supportive parents originate from over 45 countries which makes us a truly international community. The campus boasts excellent facilities including technology-enabled classrooms, multi-purpose hall/auditorium, 25m swimming pool and specialist teaching areas.

The school gained BSO (British Schools Overseas) accreditation in May 2016 following a successful inspection. This places us in an exclusive organisation of around 250 schools across the globe.

The school is located near to the International Airport and Yas Island (https://yasisland.ae/) which is home to the Grand Prix Ferrari Park, a premium shopping complex and a cluster of 5* luxury hotels. For those with high energy levels, Dubai is only a 45 minute drive from the school. The UAE is a beautiful, calm and very safe country which attracts nationalities from all over the world.

ABOUT YOU

Successful candidates will need to show a genuine commitment to creating an inspiring and stimulating child-centred learning environment. Teachers will be highly motivated as exemplary practitioners demonstrating a deep understanding of personalised learning.

All applicants should have the following:

  • Internationally recognised BEd Degree or Degree Hons. with PGCE or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of the new English National Curriculum is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years full-time TEACHING experience AFTER gaining a teaching qualification is preferred but strong candidates (including NQTs) with less experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Al Basma British School is a co-educational independent all-through school. It is based in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

The school opened its doors in 2014. Students follow the National Curriculum of England, with additional lessons in Arabic language, UAE Social Studies and Islamic Studies (for Muslim students) to meet the requirements of the UAE Ministry of Education. In terms of facilities, the school has 2 multi-purpose sports halls, 2 swimming pools, play areas, a medical clinic with experienced nurses, 2 cafeterias, an administration hub, well resourced classrooms equipped with interactive panels and whiteboards, extensive STEM facilities, performance and visual arts studios and designated 6th form areas.
