We want you!

Ark Victoria Academy provides pupils with a unique journey in their education through the curriculum, personal development programme, pupil experiences and the vast range of opportunities that we are able to provide as an all-through school. Whilst being a large school, we are able to retain a family feel, to nurture our pupils through their schooling and ensure that they leave us with the skills and qualifications necessary to continue their journey of life-long learning.

Are you a fantastic teacher, passionate about giving the children in your care the education they deserve?  Have you got experience, or potential, in leading a team to success?

Are you committed to developing your practice to become the best possible teacher you can be?

Would you like to receive leadership coaching from experience leaders and the opportunity to complete national leadership qualifications?

Would you like five extra training days a year with bespoke CPD opportunities?

Then look no further…

Ark Victoria is an All-Through academy in Small Heath with a four form entry Primary phase, where staff morale is high and teachers feel valued and supported by leaders. (Ofsted, March 2019)

We can offer:

  • Engaged, well-behaved pupils who love coming to school, enjoy their learning and are respectful, confident individuals.
  • A wide range of professional development opportunities including personalised CPD, coaching, mentoring and regular opportunities to share best practice across the academy and the Ark Network.
  • A staff team who truly support and care for each other.
  • A leadership team who provide substantial support and training to their staff with a genuine focus on career progression.
  • The opportunities that working as part of an all-through provides including a wealth of resources, subject specialists and greater options for staff development working across the phases.
  • Highly supportive parents who work with the school to provide the best education for our pupils.
  • A genuine focus on staff wellbeing; our “Wellbeing Wednesday” treats have been very popular this year!

We are looking for:

  •  Experienced or new leaders who are ambitious and can support a team to achieve success for our staff and pupils.
  •  Classroom practitioners who are role models, exemplifying best practice and using feedback to develop even further towards excellence.
  •  Leaders who are patient, empathetic and communicate well with other members of a team.
  •  A positive attitude, the ability to work well as part of a team and a love of reading.

Our children are looking for a teacher who is:

- “fun, kind, fair and caring”

- “full of surprises and is always helpful”

 - “able to explain things really well and helps us with our work”

Why our staff love working at Ark Victoria:

https://arkvictoria.org/page-strips/hear-our-team-0

“I feel valued as a member of staff.  I have support from leadership both inside and outside of school.”

“Genuinely friendly and happy staff and a welcoming environment (it really does make all the difference).”

“CPD is personalised to what we need and there are lots of opportunities for progression!”

We would encourage anyone interested to contact Helen, PA to Principal and Primary Headteacher, at h.king@arkvictoria.org and arrange an informal visit on Thursday 19th May or Friday 20th May.

About the school

Ark Victoria Academy is a large all-through school, which was judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted in May 2019. Teaching and leadership are strengths and teachers demonstrate expert subject knowledge. Time is given for reading, research and intellectual preparation to ensure teachers hone their craft and continue to develop and improve.

At Ark Victoria we have a strong vision for our school with a focus on excellence, for both our students and our staff, which is underpinned by our values:

Aim high, be brave, be kind, keep learning

As part of the Ark network, our staff benefit from strong links with the wider network; particularly with the other Ark schools in Birmingham. We harness expertise and build subject communities so that our teachers can learn from and collaborate with colleagues. As well as networking with colleagues in other Ark schools, our staff receive high quality training and support.

Our approach

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum through each stage of education. We have high expectations, and that includes high academic standards, a business-like approach in the way students present themselves, and outstanding attendance and punctuality. Sport, performing arts and design feature in both the curriculum and extracurricular activities.

Facilities

We have excellent facilities which include an astro-turf sports pitch, a four-court sports hall, a recording studio, two art/DT rooms, a dance studio, a fitness suite and a performance/school hall.

Why work at Ark Victoria

Ark Victoria Academy is an "all through family school". It is an ethos that we have worked so hard to establish since we opened, and which we know is valued by our families. Ark Victoria provides pupils with a unique journey in their education through the curriculum and wide range of opportunities that we offer as an all through school. We support and empower all staff and pupils to become ambitious, resilient, and kind citizens who understand their role in our community and the wider world. Pupils leave us with the skills and qualifications to continue their journey of life-long learning in a university or career of their choice.

Our success would not have been possible without great teachers, which is why we offer the very best training for all our staff. We provide regular coaching sessions and have an open-door policy for teachers so that peers can share learning and best practice. Our training doesn’t stop once you reach a certain level or learn a certain skill – we’ll support you throughout your whole career, from starting out as a trainee to running your own school.  In order to deliver the best training and network events, we offer twice as many training days as standard. Your school will develop and deliver its own training sessions which are responsive to need.
