Job overview
Start date: September 2026
Join Goresbrook School as our Primary SENCo! We are seeking an experienced and passionate educator to lead and coordinate provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs across our primary phase. This is a teaching role, combining classroom responsibilities with strategic leadership to ensure every child thrives. You will work closely with staff, families, and external agencies to deliver inclusive, high-quality education and champion best practice in SEND. If you are committed to making a real difference and have the vision to drive excellence, we’d love to hear from you!
Our calm and purposeful atmosphere allows student learning to be at the centre of all that we do and we are committed to ensuring that students high-quality classroom experience is matched with enriching extra-curricular opportunities. We aim to ensure that all our students leave us with the real option to succeed at a top university, the skills to excel in a career of their choice and go on to live happy and fulfilling lives rich with altruism whilst also having the cultural and spiritual awareness to be generous and enriching members of society.
Our values of Growth, Belief and Team are the central pillars of our school culture and encapsulate the behaviours we see in our young people. Beyond the classroom, the culture at Goresbrook is one of community.
Our pledge, to all our academy teachers, is that by working for us you will benefit from more pay, more time, and more support.
Ofsted Report
The inspectors were full of praise for pupils, noting that they show “high levels of commitment to their studies” and that they “value the excellent education they are receiving”. This means that all pupils, including those with SEND, “achieve exceptionally well” and “flourish” at the school. Importantly, the inspectors were equally impressed by pupils’ mature and respectful attitudes. They note that they “enjoy being part of this diverse school community” and are “courteous in their interactions” with their peers and members of staff.
You are very welcome to visit us, even if you don’t end up applying for the post. We are 20 minutes on the tube from Mile End, and just 15 minutes’ drive from East London. You may also like to arrange an informal chat with the Head of Primary, David. Feel free to contact HR to arrange a call/ visit on HR@goresbrookschool.org.uk
