This rare opportunity has arisen to lead our successful Pre and Primary School into the next exciting phase of development. We are looking for an inspirational, energetic and progressive educator who is outward-facing and charismatic. With a passion for education, you will have an affinity for the Montessori philosophy and our school values.

The new Principal will collaborate with the School Board and the academic team to lead the continued innovation, growth and enrichment of the Montessori philosophy in the School. An active listener and strong written and oral communicator, you will lead staff, parents and stakeholder communications and engagements.

We are looking for a leader who can harness the warmth and maturity Montessori East offers and lead us through the next phase of growth and development. This is a great opportunity to bring your educational vision to this well established and well-respected school.

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for Montessori education, values, and philosophies.
  • Strategically manage change to oversee the short and long-term growth and sustainability of the School.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to inform, involve and empower so that improvements, innovations, and change reflect the values, philosophy and strategic direction of the School.
  • Deliver marketing and community engagement policies, procedures and activities to promote the School’s unique service offerings.
  • Collaborate with the Eastern Suburbs Montessori Association (ESMA) to uphold effective governance and ensure that all decisions lead to the continued success, wellbeing and excellence of the School

About Montessori East Pre-School and Primary School

Montessori East Primary and Pre School is an independent, co-educational school educating 3-12 year olds. Situated in Bondi, an eastern suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, the school provides education in multi-age classrooms of 3 to 6 year olds, 6 to 9 years and 9 to 12 years.

Montessori East was established in 1978 and is the only Montessori educational facility in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs. It began as a pre-school and has been on its present site since 2001. It is one of over 150 Montessori schools in Australia that follow a student-centered and teacher-facilitated education model.

Montessori East provides a “prepared environment” and has large, well-equipped classrooms for its students. It also has a dedicated library space, full kitchen facilities and an art room. Outdoor areas are available to preschool and primary school students, with each class having its own vegetable garden.

Curriculum

Montessori East follows the Montessori National Curriculum which is linked to all outcomes from the NSW Board of Studies Syllabus. The core curriculum is offered through individualised learning programmes. Students also experience a variety of other activities such as swimming, surfing, playball, dance, drama, yoga, camping experiences, and foreign language.

School ethos

Montessori East’s child-centred learning environment supports students’ in becoming in control of their learning. The school aims to encourage academic growth, self-confidence and independent thinking and learning. The Montessori approach promotes respect for self and others, awareness and consideration for the needs of fellow human beings, developing the child intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.
