A Centre of Excellence:

Following the retirement of the current Principal, Rob Major, in August 2026 after a total of 28 years of dedicated service to the school, we are seeking an exceptional candidate to lead the Tomlinscote School community into its next phase of development. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to serve as Principal (Headteacher) of a truly exceptional school.

Judged outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in November 2023, Tomlinscote is a hugely popular, well-regarded and over-subscribed 11-16 comprehensive school of 1,500 students. Over the past three years, the school has secured its highest ever GCSE results in terms of both attainment and progress, thanks to the consistently high quality of teaching and support for every student. Although a larger than average secondary school, Tomlinscote is a friendly and happy school with harmonious relationships and a strong sense of community. Students are proud of their school, have high aspirations and behave in a calm and courteous manner.

As well as the pursuit of academic excellence, Tomlinscote is renowned for its commitment to providing the highest possible standard of pastoral care, so that every learner can fully realise their academic and personal potential. The school offers a broad and carefully designed curriculum, including a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities. The school benefits from excellent facilities and educational resources. The school has enthusiastically embraced learning technologies, and all students have their own iPad.

The Prospect Trust

Tomlinscote is part of the Prospect Trust, which is currently integrating with WMAT, another strong local Multi-Academy Trust.  As such, in 2026 it will join a family of academies that includes several other successful secondary schools and a renowned local Sixth Form college.
