Job overview

TES is looking for experienced reporters to work on its award-winning website and magazine.

What you’ll do

Your role will range from writing attention-grabbing online news stories extremely quickly and accurately to conducting ground-breaking in-depth investigations that lead the national educational news agenda.

You will be equally at home finding and writing exclusive hard news stories, online ‘listicles’, colour features and news analyses.

You will come up with your own ideas for news stories, investigations and how to treat and present online news in ways that boosts visitors to our website.

You will be expected to know everything that is going on in your allotted patch within the schools sector, and make all necessary contacts and keep in touch with them regularly.

Who you are

You should ideally have at least two years’ experience on a respected newspaper, magazine or website, and a strong track record in finding, breaking and writing exclusive news stories and producing attention-grabbing digital copy. Experience of writing in-depth features would also be beneficial.

We need a talented, enthusiastic and creative journalist with a nose for a story, strong writing skills, and the drive and commitment to contribute to a close-knit team. Prior experience covering education would be an advantage, but is not essential.

We would expect candidates to have an NCTJ or equivalent qualification and to be educated to degree level, but will be most interested in applicants' track record as a journalist.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the country’s leading publication for schools and colleges and to help set the education news agenda.
