Putney High School are looking to recruit a full-time rowing coach to join the team to coach all squads with particular focus on developing our senior athletes.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about rowing with previous coaching experience and who has a very good understanding of the sport and who will build upon the very high standards of this successful boat club. The right candidate will continue to promote and develop the school’s successful rowing programme and support the environment of sporting excellence for the young women of Putney High School.
In January 2016, the school opened its very own Boathouse; the first and only all-female boat club along the River Thames. The Boat Club provides a state of the art training facility which continues to develop our athletes. Part of the Girls’ Day School Trust group of schools, Putney High School is one of the UK’s leading schools, and has earned a reputation for excellence in sport across the school.
We currently have 100 girls throughout Year 8-13 rowing and racing competitively, achieving significant success across the board. Last year our top Junior 16 coxed four gained a silver medal at the National School’s Regatta, then went on to win Henley Women’s Regatta. In the summer they were then selected to compete in the Junior 16 GB vs France Match. We continually have athletes trialling through the Great Britain system, and have had pupils selected to race at GB level at the Coupe de la Jeunesse. The success of the boat club in recent years is reflected by the standard achieved by our alumnae athletes who have raced in both the Women’s Boat Race and Women’s Lightweight Boat Race.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in developing our sportswomen of the future by inspiring girls at all levels to develop their love for rowing. We are seeking a coach to support the Head of Rowing coach girls of all ages and abilities, in the club’s exciting phase of expanding numbers every year, on our journey to being one of the most successful all-female boat clubs nationally.
Salary is in accordance with the GDST national scale. Salary is dependant on experience and qualifications.
