Job overview

The Boswells School is looking to appoint a School Business Manager (SBM) to play a pivotal role as a member of the school’s Leadership Team. The successful candidate will provide professional leadership and management to all of the school’s support staff, in partnership with teaching staff, to enhance their effectiveness in order to achieve the highest standards of learning and achievement in the school. Working with the Headteacher, our SBM will also ensure the highest standards of business ethos within the school and will strategically ensure the most effective use of resources in support of our vision of providing ‘an outstanding education for all our children’.       

You will be joining a school with enthusiastic and dedicated leaders at senior and middle leadership levels and a commitment to the professional development of staff. The Boswells School is an 11-18, very successful, popular and oversubscribed school in the Springfield area of Chelmsford, Essex. We have achieved record GCSE results for the school in the last two years and our A Level results in 2016 were amongst the highest in Essex. The school is judged as ‘good’ by OFSTED in all areas as well as being part of an expanding multi-academy trust and an approved academy sponsor.

Academic Achievement

We are extremely proud of the achievements of our students. 2019 was another superb year for The Boswells School with our GCSE and A Level results making us one of the highest performing non-selective secondary schools in Essex. In 2019, 55% of our A Level students achieved A* to B grades, 88% of our A Level students achieved A* to C grades, 83% of our GCSE students achieved a Good pass (Grade 4+) in Eniglish and 71% of our GCSE students achieved a Good pass (Grade 4+) in Maths.

The percentage of students who achieved the expected levels of progress in English and Mathematics was significantly above the national average as was the percentage of students who achieved more than expected progress in these areas.
