SCIENCE TECHNICIAN

START DATE: JULY 2017 OR SEPTEMBER 2017

We are seeking to appoint a technician who believes in excellence. In line with our specialism you will help actively drive the subject both within and outside of the curriculum. We are committed to making science engaging, stimulating and valued and we have an ethos which leaves no student left behind. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of practical science skills, ideally including preparing chemicals and chemistry procedures, and will have worked in an academic environment recently (preferably a secondary school).

Overview

We are currently graded outstanding by Ofsted and SIAMS, have just achieved our best ever AS and A2 results and are way above national averages at GCSE with 66% A* to C including English and maths. However, we are much more than a successful, academically focussed school. We believe in educating the whole child and our Christian values of joy, perseverance, servant leadership, charity and forgiveness underpin everything we stand for. It is important that all of our staff, whether they are teachers or not, work closely with our young people and ensure that they are successful in all that they do. I am looking for staff who will always go the extra mile for our young people and believe that education happens both in and out of the classroom.

The Science subjects are extremely popular with our students, as well as generous timetabling in Key Stage 3 and GCSE classes, we have multiple classes for each science at AS and A level, and also have STEM activities running after school.

Our staff are supportive and friendly and run an active staff association. The leadership team are committed to ensuring that staff are developed and supported throughout their careers; we offer students who want to learn and colleagues who want to help each other. Your continual professional development is important to us; each week we offer one hour of CPD so that you have time to reflect and grow. We offer in-house middle and senior leadership pathways and also work with a range of external partners to support staff in studying for Masters, NPQML, NPQSL and the like. We offer season ticket loans and our location means easy access to the centre of London and surrounding areas through the over ground and district line.

As well as taking care of you as a person we also offer fantastic students and embedded behaviour and teaching and learning policies.
