We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and innovative Second in English – Key Stage Five. They will support the Director of English to lead a dynamic team to achieve the very best for all of our students, within the faculty. The direct responsibility of this role is for the academic progress of students in years 12 and 13.

As Second in English, you will contribute to the overall leadership and management of Guilsborough School Multi Academy Trust and be active in promoting its aims and supporting an ethos that promotes achievement and high standards.

With the support of the Director of English, you will provide outstanding educational leadership for all colleagues that teach within the faculty. You will lead the development, planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of student progress in years 12 and 13 and engage effectively with all partners in providing a high quality learning environment. You will have a clear vision of quality first teaching that challenges and supports students of all ability levels.

In addition, the role will involve the line management of some colleagues within the faculty and include leading on the quality assurance programme (KS5).

The ideal candidate will need to be a strong role model for our students and teachers that they lead and manage. Through assisting the Director of English, they will be someone who can motivate and empower others to be the very best they can be.

We work hard to enhance the links with our feeder schools. This ensures the progression to secondary school is successful and happy for both students and parents/carers. An extensive transition programme supports this process.
