Dukhan English School (DES) is the true definition of a community school, where all are welcome. We are a vibrant and dynamic group of teachers within a supportive and encouraging community. DES, founded in the early 1950s, is a not-for-profit school owned and operated by Qatar Energy for children aged 3-18. 

The school serves the Dukhan township, comprising a diverse community of more than 40 nationalities.  Our new purpose-built campus, completes the through-school campus upgrades with are situated at the heart of the community. The secondary school building spans 27 acres with state-of-the-art learning environments including an 800-seat auditorium, assembly hall which can accomodate 1500 people, 3 sports halls, 2 large green fields, a swimming pool and an all-weather multi-use games pitch.

We are seeking professionals who will:

• Be reflective practitioners committed to continued professional growth.

• Be able to work collaboratively with colleagues to support the development of the curriculum.

• Provide classroom experiences centred around challenge and enjoyment for all students.

• Have knowledge and experience of using innovative pedagogical approaches within the classroom, including the use of technology.

• Preferably have knowledge and experience of teaching EAL students.

• Be skilled in the use of both formative and summative assessment approaches.

• Provide critical analysis of the progress, intervention and achievement for all children.

The English Department has seven full-time members of staff including the Head of Faculty. The department is state-of-the-art and resourced to a very high standard. There are dedicated English teaching rooms, where each member of the department has their own classroom. The classrooms are all equipped with computer, projector and interactive boards. The department has its own office base for staff as well as two break out rooms. 

The department teaches the following qualifications:

- GCSE English Language (First language)

- GCSE English Language (Second language) 

- GCSE English Literature

- A-Level English Language 

- A-Level English Literature

- General English 

We are seeking an inspirational teacher with experience and a passion for English who:

• Has relevant experience to teach English through to KS5 /A Level.

• Has engaged with current pedagogy around English language education, in particular supporting EAL students.

• Understands how to sequence, resource, adapt and refine areas of the curriculum.

• Takes responsibility for leading development and resourcing of an area of the curriculum.

• Open minded, energetic and adaptable to change. 

• Committed, self-motivated and driven. 

• An enthusiastic and hard-working team player.

• Organised, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality. 

• Ability to remain calm under pressure
