Job overview

We are looking to recruit a full-time Security Porter to join our dedicated and thriving Security Team. The role covers a wide range of responsibilities including implementing and acting on emergency and safety procedures, car park management, patrolling and providing general reassurance around the school.

The Security Porter will often provide the first impression of the school, it is therefore critical that they are always professional, diplomatic, authoritative and dress appropriately for the role. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills and an ability to be resilient and remain calm under pressure.

Salary: Competitive plus benefits.

Working hours: Working hours are shift based Monday to Friday, average 40 hours per week. A typical shift will be 9 hours including a 1-hour unpaid break.

Start times will vary from 6-11am. Flexibility will be required as the post-holder may be called upon on weekends if cover is required.

St Paul’s is a selective Independent Day School for boys aged 13-18, occupying a superb 45-acre site on the south bank of the Thames, west of Hammersmith Bridge. St Paul’s School was founded in 1509 and currently occupies a large site in Barnes, south-west London. A selective independent school, it provides an education for boys aged 7-18 and has boarding facilities for a small number of its students.

Prospective entrants are usually expected to pass online and/or written examinations across a range of subjects, as well as undergoing an interview with a senior member of staff. In order to improve accessibility for students from poorer backgrounds, a wide range of bursaries and scholarships are available for boys who reach the required academic standard.
