The Vacancy

The School of Digital and Creative Industries at Newcastle College is entering an exciting and challenging time. We are looking for a confident and proactive individual to join our busy team as a Computing Lecturer.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic lecturers with experience of teaching the underpinning theory and practical activities related to Computer programmes within further and higher education.

We are looking for skill sets / qualifications / experience in following areas to provide additional strength to our programs:

Software development background with skills in object orientated programming and design as well as knowledge of programming languages such as Java, C#, ASP.Net, Python etc.


Networking and/or Cyber Security background with familiarisation across associated technologies.

You will be able to develop exciting, dynamic and creative learning experiences for students at various levels. In addition, you will be a strong, professional, positive communicator, who is able, for example, to contribute to positive team building and collaborative work, not just within computing but across a full department.

Crucially, you will be passionate about creativity and providing outstanding training and learning for the computing practitioners of tomorrow, as part of a wider  Digital and Creative Industries department, and with a full understanding of the fast pace and vital importance of developing digital skills. Experience of engagement with external groups, the development of commercial and/or co-curricular activities would also be desirable.

We welcome applications from experienced Lecturers but would also be able to support those with significant industry experience who are looking to begin a career in Further Education to achieve a qualification in teaching with our established Lecturer programme.
