Our Mission is to “Aspire for Academic, Cultural & Sporting Excellence”

SSAT Double Award Winners 2015 & Pupil Premium Award Winners 2016

We wish to appoint from 1st September 2017 a talented and enthusiastic teacher of Economics to join a thriving and high achieving school. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to teach students across a broad ability range. A substantial number of students take Economics at Key Stages 4 and 5, with A-level teaching available.

The candidate will join a dedicated and talented department, who have delivered outstanding results in recent years with Business and Economics results rated in the top 8% nationally. In 2016, 36% of students secured an A*-A grade in Economics and 90% A*-C grade. At A-level, 75% of students secured an A*-B grade. The department also has a substantial enrichment programme on offer, including Sixth Form peer mentoring. We would be keen to hear from candidates who could add to this programme.

Our oversubscribed School achieved 83% 5 A*-C including Maths and English in 2016 and the Sixth Form received an ‘outstanding’ ALP’s judgement. In our previous Ofsted inspection both ‘Behaviour & Safety’ and our Sixth Form were judged ‘outstanding’.

The department has dedicated teaching rooms. Each teaching room is fully equipped with interactive white boards and audio visual equipment.

We offer:

  • A strong feedback culture and established programme of induction and mentoring.
  • A supportive environment in which your enthusiasm will be nurtured and talents valued.
  • A commitment to your professional development, leadership training and career management.
  • The chance to network with outstanding practitioners as part of the ‘partners in Excellence’ programme.
  • Free access to our on-site gymnasium.
  • Residential experiences available to Austria, Spain, Belgium, France, South Africa and      USA.

Please contact Janet Rigby, Office Manager on jrigby3@suttonmail.org to arrange a visit or an informal discussion with the Headteacher, Mr Philip McCullagh.

Salary payable is on the Teachers Main Scale, including Outer London Weighting.

Application forms and job details are available by downloading via the website on www.johnfisherschool.org/page/vacancies/  where further information on the school and department may be found.  Completed application forms should be sent with a covering letter to Mrs Rigby by the closing date: noon on Wednesday, 3rd May 2017.  Interviews will be held week commencing 8th May 2017.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and to equality of opportunity. An enhanced CRB will be required.
