About British Embassy School Ankara
The British Embassy School Ankara is a co-educational, not for profit, international school located in Ankara, capital of The Republic of Turkey. It is inspected by the UK Independent Schools Inspectorate, most recently in December 2025.
First established in 1959, the school occupies a site on the grounds of the British embassy and currently hosts around 235 pupils aged 3-16. In September 2025 the school opened its first Year 11 cohort who will be taking their GCSE's this summer.
The school was founded in order to provide an education to expatriate families living in Ankara, although it does accept students from the local population as well. Although a relatively small school, it is able to boast of a wide range of different teaching and recreational facilities, including an indoor sports arena and numerous modern classrooms.
The British Embassy School Ankara follows the English National Curriculum in Primary with a blend of the National Curriculum and the Cambridge Curriculum in secondary including iGCSE. As a result, the school offers numerous high-quality core subjects as well as some wider options.
The school teaches in English, and provides proper support for students speaking English as a second or third language. There is also support provided for students with additional learning needs.
The British Embassy School is an active member of IAPs, COBIS and the Black Sea Schools Group.
