British Embassy School Ankara

The British Embassy School Ankara is a co-educational international school located in Ankara, capital of The Republic of Turkey. First established in 1959, the school occupies a site on the grounds of the British embassy and currently hosts around 200 pupils aged 3-14. The school was mainly founded in order to provide an education to expatriate families living in Ankara, although it does still accept students from the local population as well. Although a relatively small school, it is able to boast of a wide range of different teaching and recreational facilities, including an indoor sports arena and numerous modern classrooms. The school also hosts a small outdoors facility. The British Embassy School Ankara primarily follows the English National Curriculum, as well as elements of the International Primary and Middle curriculums. As a result, the school offers numerous high-quality core subjects as well as some wider options. As the school only goes up to Key Stage 4, it does not offer formal iGCSE or A-level examinations. The school teaches primarily in English, and provides proper support for the high proportion of students speaking English as a second or third language.
