Job overview

The Hayesbrook School and The High Weald Academy

Due to the expansion of our talented team we are excited to be seeking an exceptional teacher to join us in pursuit of life changing excellence across both academies.

Our vision is simple – to ensure that all of our students achieve beyond our expectations and flourish as confident learners with the highest aspirations, ready for the university or careers of their choice and also ready for the world in which they will work and live.

We know that central to achieving our ambitious vision is high quality teaching underpinned by exceptional professional development. Our people are our greatest asset and we want to continue to invest in them. We are seeking to create a small team of dedicated professionals whose role is to work alongside their colleagues in and out of the classroom providing high quality and impactful development, through coaching and modelling, which ensures our teaching is exceptional. We want to ensure a culture of openness and one where the value of peer development is understood and valued regardless of length of service or experience.

This newly created role means you will be sharing your experience and passion to inspire innovative classroom practice and bring our curriculum ambition to life through students’ everyday experience. No day will be the same and as a people focused person you will know how to get the best out of those around you through forming excellent relationships and by being reliable, flexible and supportive.

The team will be led by a newly appointed Assistant Principal and will assume the leadership of the development of teaching practice and the delivery of professional development opportunity. By working and teaching in both academies you will become fully immersed in each and so will fully understand the context of your work.

In being appointed to this unique post you will join an exceptionally committed team who believe in doing whatever it takes to ensure our students achieve great things; because they deserve the very best. You will also be in a key position to shape and influence the present and the future not only for students but also for our staff.

The Hayesbrook School is a non-selective boys academy, with a mixed Sixth Form, that serves the communities of Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding areas. The High Weald Academy is a small, non-selective co-educational academy that serves the communities of Cranbrook, Staplehurst and the surrounding areas. In both settings every student on roll is supported and challenged to reach their own personal excellence.

About The High Weald Academy

High Weald Academy is a small school serving a widespread rural area.  There is a calm and orderly environment and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of academy life.  The welcoming and family ethos is reflected in our Aspire and Achieve values and in our cohort structure which promotes a strong sense of community and belonging and supports students to develop and flourish both academically and as young people.  It is a school completely connected to the local community.  High Weald Academy has high expectations of all students and aims to ensure that students achieve the highest possible academic results as well as support them to develop as good citizens able to take their place in the world.  We have an active and supportive parent body who are advocates of the work we do and promote the academy positively in the local area.

The academy currently has just under 300 students. The School Farm is outstanding and wins a range of accolades and prizes as a result of the work we do with the community and local primary schools.  It also gives opportunities to learn in a different context within and beyond the curriculum.

THigh Weald Academy is on a trajectory of improvement.  Our key priority and focus are to remove the barriers to learning in order to secure good and better progress and outcomes for all students no matter what their starting points or challenges.  We are an academy that is committed to ensuring that children achieve well and are given every opportunity to develop a diverse range of skills and abilities that will serve them well in adult life.   The Trust provides opportunities for collaboration between both staff and students across the three schools it works with. At a time of flux in education, we have a strong belief that schools can no longer exist in isolation and that partnerships of this kind are a way of providing stability, support and innovation.

The school’s motto is PRIDE. This stands for personal excellence, respect and friendship, inspiration, determination and courage, equality. Being a part of the community and cooperating with parents is viewed as important. No matter what background each child comes from, the school aims to help them reach their full potential. The academy hopes to mould the pupils into caring, young adults.
