Job overview

Due to the expansion of the school and student numbers we wish to appoint a talented, enthusiastic and ambitious Teacher of Art, Design and Technology to join our innovative department. The faculty offers a variety of very popular courses across the subject areas. It has its own specialist area and is a leading faculty in the development of high quality teaching and learning at the school.

We are proud to provide an extensive creative curriculum in our own separate block which facilitates a wide range of resources such as a three dimensional printer, laser cutter and kiln and also the recently completed refurbishment of the two food technology rooms and equipment.

We are looking for a candidate who is inspiring, dynamic and has a passion for teaching ADT to join our team and continue to grow a joy of learning in all our students. The ability to teach more than one of the subjects taught by the faculty would be an advantage.

This full time maternity cover post would equally suit an experienced teacher or an early career teacher for whom excellent induction and support is provided. For an informal discussion about the post or to arrange a visit prior to application please contact Tim Braybrook, Deputy Headteacher – tbraybrook@stanborough.herts.sch.uk

We were delighted to be awarded a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted in March 2023, this recognises the hard work and progress made by all in the school. Prospective candidates are encouraged to read the full report available on our website at https://stanborough.herts.sch.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/2023-OFSTED-Report.pdf. This is an exciting time to join Stanborough School as, founded on our values and a belief in ‘success for all’, we continue on our journey towards ‘Outstanding’.

Applications are invited via the MyNewTerm portal https://www.mynewterm.com/school/Stanborough-School/137847. Further information is also available on our website: https://stanborough.herts.sch.uk/vacancies/staff-vacancies/

Closing date: Tuesday 16th April 2024 at 9am

Prospective candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as we reserve the right to call candidates for interview and appoint before the closing date

Stanborough School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.  All post holders are subject to safeguarding checks including references and a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Awarded a 'Good' rating by Ofsted in January 2023, Stanborough School is an 11-18 co-educational Academy that sits on the southern fringe of Welwyn Garden City with easy access to the A1 and London.  Due to parental demand for places at the school, from September 2019 the school expanded to 8 form entry.  We pride ourselves in being a fully inclusive school that serves our local community and on being a school that does its best for each individual student so they can achieve their potential during their time at Stanborough.

Stanborough is proud of its community involvement.  We work closely with the four other local Secondary Schools as part of the Welwyn-Hatfield 16-19 Consortium.  We also take a leading role in hosting and developing a number of other key community developments such as the Handside Schools Partnership with a local special school and primary school.

The school boasts excellent facilities including our first-rate IT resources, a legacy of our Specialist Computing Status.  With a dedicated Art and Technology block, Sports Hall, Sixth Form Centre and the recently constructed MFL and Humanities and Music and Drama teaching blocks the students enjoy some outstanding facilities.  Our excellent resources in all curriculum areas also show our commitment to giving students a wide variety of curricular opportunities including technology, the performing arts and computing.

Our greatest asset at the school is our staff.  We want the best educators for our students and through exceptional retention we have a stable staff with very low turn-over.  A number of staff who started at the school as NQTs now find themselves in senior positions at the school. We have a strong support team and many staff have remained with the school for several years.
