If you answer yes to these, Greenwood Academy is looking for you. Greenwood is a vibrant, successful 11-18 Academy situated in the heart of Castle Vale. We currently have 950 pupils on roll and are growing every year. At Greenwood our core values are Respect, Responsibility and Resilience and this forms the foundation of our school culture. To support this, we offer a wide range of opportunities beyond the core curriculum whether in the Arts which includes school productions, dance, drama and music performances or through our extensive Sports programme which takes advantage of grass and 4G pitches, Sports hall with specialist dance studio and Multi Use Games Area. 

Our state-of-the-art building and world class facilities make the most of the latest technology available to enhance the learning environment, including the Google Education platform. Most importantly, children and young adults at Greenwood Academy tell us they enjoy coming to school and feel safe and secure.

The purpose of education at Greenwood Academy is to ensure that all pupils, regardless of background, develop the knowledge and character needed to achieve personal and academic excellence to lead ‘Remarkable Lives’. We provide students with some of the most vital substantive and disciplinary knowledge to access further qualifications but also to prepare students for an ambitious life after school whether that be accessing higher education or finding a true vocation. You would join a strong team which believes in a knowledge rich curriculum, through which Young People access a variety of high quality texts as part of an immersive journey. 

We are looking for a Teacher of Art, Drama & Music who is really passionate about helping our students succeed and grow as individuals.

  • You will be creative and innovative, with a proven track record of challenging the brightest students academically.
  • This is a perfect role for candidates who want to gain further middle leadership experience.

You will contribute towards the continued development of Art, Drama & Music within the academy. Your teaching will be of high quality and your results will reflect the high calibre of your teaching. You must have a commitment to teaching and learning and continued professional development. You will have the passion to be part of a successful teaching environment which produces the best from students. 

We want someone who believes that no student should be held back by their economic background and who is passionate about literature and delivering the very best knowledge to our pupils. 

The successful candidate will be a team player who is passionate about their classroom practice and committed to ensuring that teaching and learning is the very best it can be. We need someone who is invested in developing their own subject knowledge and teaching pedagogy, as well as that of others.

Greenwood Academy is a vibrant, successful 11-18 Academy situated in the heart of Castle Vale.  We moved into our £20 million new build in September 2017 with world class facilities.  Coupled with this is a highly professional staff and students who are keen to learn.  As a result of being oversubscribed, we are embarking on the next wave of recruitment for the highest calibre of staff who can help us to grow our school community.

Quality first teaching is at the core of everything we do. To support this, our evidence-based Teaching and Learning vision incorporates Barack Rosenshine’s Principles of Direct Instruction.  Literacy is a significant part of every lesson. Standard written and Spoken English is insisted upon and modelled by all teachers to ensure our students can achieve their potential.

Most importantly, we do not grade observations at Greenwood Academy, we believe that regular, developmental feedback creates a strong, supportive and vibrant culture.

2. Expectations

We have a firm and fair approach to behaviour, systematically supported by senior staff; all pupil detentions are centralised and run by senior staff every day. Teachers are therefore able to prioritise the planning and teaching of their subject.

3. Work-life balance

We are committed to reducing teacher workload and making sure that everything we do has a positive impact on pupil learning. This means we have a slimmed-down marking policy, a centralised knowledge focused homework policy, no parents evenings and a minimal assessment, reporting and data entry cycle.
